Raise The Roof campaign/project closed in November of 2022 and we have transitioned these pages to an archive for historical reference. We wish to thank all of our donors and supporters for their time, talent, and resources in making this a successful endeavor. We are grateful for your spirit of generosity and may God bless you abundantly as you serve Him faithfully.
The project includes reconstruction of exterior masonry joints of the bell tower and turrets to eliminate current water intrusion and to protect St. Luke’s antique, valuable bell and its wood-beam supports. The solid bronze bell was manufactured by McShane’s Bell Foundry, America’s oldest bell foundry established in 1856. It was purchased by the M.E. Church South, Nicholasville, KY in 1886 and weighs 1,268 lbs!
This project required significant additional donations beyond our parish collection to renovate major structural components of St. Luke Catholic Church. Built after World War I, and shortly before the Jessamine County Courthouse, St. Luke's is a magnificent, historic, and distinctive landmark made of locally-quarried Kentucky River stone. Your donations have protected and improved our unique church, which is like no other in the Diocese.
