One icy winter day in 1300, a Benedictine priest was celebrating Mass in a side chapel of the convent church of O'Cebreiro, Spain. On that miserable day of endless snow and unbearably freezing wind, he thought no one would show up for Mass. He was wrong. A farmer from Barxamaior climbed up to the convent to attend Mass. The priest saying the Mass, who did not believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist, interiorly despised the farmer's sacrifice and good will. He began to celebrate the Mass. Immediately after having pronounced the words of consecration, the Host changed to Flesh and the wine changed to Blood, gushing out of the chalice and staining the corporal. At that moment, it seems, even the head of the wooden statue of Our Lady bowed in adoration. The people today call her the "Madonna of the Holy Miracle." The Lord wanted to open the eyes of the unbelieving priest who had doubted and to reward the farmer for his great devotion. May your daily sacrifices bring you to greater love of the Mass and Adoration. May you do all to attend and be in His Presence every week. May God reward you with faith and greater love of Him.
